Feather Boa, Reputedly Worn by Rita Hayworth On-Screen
Ostrich feather boa, 77" long, 9" wide, 17" circumference. The feathers are attached at both sides of a long, centered "hem"; those along one side of a six-inch long section are missing. There are other feather losses, intermittently, along the length of the boa, end-to-end, and in fact a feather or two falls out whenever the item is handled, however carefully. Undated; apparently, middle third of the twentieth century. We acquired this fine accessory / prop from a family whose deceased uncle was involved with the film industry. They maintained, with a combination of authority and family tradition, that it was worn by Rita Hayworth on-screen. We have not researched the claim, and are representing the item as being of unknown origin and use; it is for the buyer to determine, with or without certainty, whether it ever belonged to, or was seen in a film with, Rita Hayworth.
